I took part in an exchange program with a student in France. It only lasted four weeks (i stayed with him for two weeks, then he came to stay with me for two), but I found the whole experience fantastic. It was a real insight into the ways of life of a different people, as well as helping me to improve my french language skills (and it was a fun holiday, too!)
To anyone considering going on it, I would say DO IT, you’ll kick yourself if you don’t!
